About Dr. Leigh

Dr. Leigh Beck is a talented micro and macro social worker that has trained hundreds of social workers, nurses, doctors, peer recovery specialists, and community health workers on a range of micro and macro topics that include Self-Care, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Cultural Competency, and Structural Competency.

Certified in Nature Informed Therapy, Dr. Leigh’s newest training curriculum is called “Nature Informed Harm Reduction” which combines her expertise in both of these areas.

Dr. Leigh has over fifteen years of clinical experience in institutional and community settings. She works with diverse populations experiencing a wide range of behavioral health challenges. Early on in her career she found a particular passion for working with people experiencing substance use disorders and continues to be dedicated to serving this population, their families, and their communities.

This includes making the policy changes required to end tragedies like the opioid crisis and to prevent the next one. Her doctorate focused on the political determinants of the opioid crisis and how to teach social workers to identify and intervene them.

Dr. Leigh is co-president of US-El Salvador Sister Cities, an international solidarity organization. She is a member of the provider circle at Vot-ER whose mission is to bring voter registration to healthcare. She also co-founded Beckys Anonymous, a mutual-aid group for white women who want to end white supremacy.
